After a week of cold wind and rain coupled with gloomy gray skies, I am dreaming of a vacation. Which sparked a thought for this week's journal. Where would you live if money and family ties were not a consideration? What one spot calls to you?

Pets. Do you have one or more now? Have a favorite one who has passed on that you still miss? I come from a pet family so it is natural to me that my kids have and love their cats. I do have several friends who do not have animals--they have gorgeous houses with no pet hair--but who greets them when they come home? I may get mad at my critters, but I love them.

Color. It is one of the first words I would use to describe fall. I adore watching the vibrant colors creep into the trees in my yard. Some trees start with slow changes around the edges while others appear to change outfits overnight. My children and I love walking in the brisk weather searching for multicolored leaves along the ground.

Yet, as much as I love the colors of fall, they are not my favorite palette. I love denim and white with pops of red best. That all American girl next door color scheme. When asked for favorite colors, my family gives fun answers. The hubby: the standard "blue". No further info on shade will be offered. My daughter: pink and purple and silver, oh and gold and yellow and can I pick peach too? Yes, at age 9, she has lots of favorites. My son's answer tickles me the most, though. Age 6 and very math/logic in his thinking, he answers: gray. Why gray? Well, because I like black and white best and gray is black + white.

Welcome to Fall!

Do you have a favorite fall activity that you are anticipating? There are so many fun ones to choose from! Pumpkin patch, apple picking, leaf leaping, bonfires, football games, and so many more! I admit that fall is not my favorite season, but it is certainly one of my most active as a mom. There are so many fun memories that I want my children to have--and so many things to do before the snow traps us in the house!

The last weekend of summer is upon us. Perhaps your weather will continue to be warm for months to come or perhaps you can already smell the snow. Either way, the calendar insists that we start fall this week. And the powers behind television agree. This week marks the beginning of the full television season and I am sooooooooooo excited.

So, what show is it that you are loving right now? The one you have been counting the minutes until it returned. Tell yourself all about it.

Celebrate! What you ask? Anything at all. Take a few minutes today to jump up and down with excitement and happy dance over anything you can think of. And then take that same little something and write all about it.

The same way that we can make a little annoyance into a day destroying item, we can make a little joy into a party. And the more we focus on the joy, the more we spend our day being happy.
